Going into E3, I wasn't too sure what to expect. While I thought the press conferences lacked the wow factor of last year, there was still plenty of cool stuff to see. I was most impressed with Portal 2, which has now edged out Jumpgate: Evolution and Star Wars: The Old Republic for my most anticipated game. The new Portal will feature new characters, a more coherent plot, and plenty of new challenges and methods of traversing your old stomping grounds in the Aperture Science Labs. Well after a loooooooong time away, now that I'm settled into college life, I'm going to be resuming the posts and much more frequently. Bigredbutton is still getting things situated so it might be just me for a while.

Trying to revert back to Windows XP?

Yesterday, bigredbutton had a computer meltdown in the middle of his Windows 7 installation that completely made his computer inoperable. Figuring he'd been meaning to reformat the hardrive anyway he decided to install XP back onto the laptop instead of using the Vista it came with. Only, when he tried, the Windows XP installation could not locatate a local hard drive. Turns out this is a very common problem and the fix can be rather easy. If you have an HP or compaq disabling "Native SATA Control" should fix the problem. On a Dell changing your SATA Device Operation to ATA instead of AHCIshould work. If you have something else, then look for something of that nature. If none of that works there is another method that can be found here. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, Bigredbutton's OS is up and running although now we are struggling with the wireless, but it looks like a simple matter of drivers.

Windows 7!

Hey guys on typing my first post on Windows 7. Gotta say, so far I'm liking what I am seeing. Nothing flashy, but everything is running smooth and fast. If you're interested visit: The download site and get a product key. 64 bit and 32 operating systems are available. I'd recommend that you parition your hard drive and dual boot Windows 7 and whatever OS you have now. Keep in mind that this Release Client expires June 1, 2010, beginning in March 2010 your computer will shut down every 2 hours if you haven't purchased the product. Good news for Vista users though: It will only cost $50 for the new Windows 7 and I have heard that MS Office will be given away for free. If you have any questions about Windows 7, or how to install it please write a comment...WE LOVE COMMENTS..erm yea.

WMG...I have no words

Forgive me but this post probably won't be the greatest but I need a place to rant. WMG, aka youtube destroyer, has finally got to me. It was mildly aggrevating when I would find that some of my favorite videos were deleted or a cool looking video would be muted. But it finally hit home today as I was trying to upload my newest video, a tribute to the men and women in the military. After working hard for 3 days, my video was removed from youtube because of WMG. I was and still am so angry, that words fail to come to my aid. I actually WROTE to WMG, thats how pissed I was. I wonder how in God's name, these people get into executive positions like this and get paid millions of dollars to tank companies. Heck, hire me and I'll tank your company for a couple hundred thousand bucks! The inepititude, and out of touch approach WMG is taking will be their downfall and rightly so! Was thrilled to see they lost $3.491 Billion last year...keep it up guys, you're doing a fantastic job.

The vengance of the past

Today Conquest and I went to this new game store that had opened up near one of our trusted Gamestop outlets and we were curious to how it could compete with Gamestop. Conquest had told me that there were Dreamcast games and since I had been a huge Dreamcast fan I though oh maybe they would have some of the games I wanted from years past. When we finally arrive to my surprise they had not only what I was looking for but almost everyother game I had wanted for the dreamcast. Upon further investigation of the store they had two gameboy games I had been searching for Metroid 2 and Metal Gear Solid gameboy edition. At this point it was alittle creepy but it didn't end there. This store also had some super nintendo games I had wanted such as Super Star Wars. Also one of my favorite childhood game series from the nes era the Dragon Warrior series were all present at this bloody store with all 4 iterations of the series. I could barely hold my wallet together. But I had just reserved Halo ODST so I was not willing to spend another 60 bucks. But I promise my gaming past that I will return to that wonderous store willing to buy atleast some of these lost treasure. BTW the store's name is Guerilla games, if you have one by you go and buy things NAUWGH.

C&C 4 Announced

EA has officially announced the release of the 4th and final installment of the Tiberium storyline. I don't know about you but I used to be a long time C&C fan. But when EA got their hands on it, they utterly ruined it for me. I never really followed the Tiberium storyline, instead basically growing up on the Red Alert series. Red Alert 3 was a terrible attempt at a sequel and its expansion just kicked a hurt game while it was down. Part of me is sad to see a C&C ending, but the other half is relieved that EA is finally going to let it go before they do too much damage to this once fantastic series.

No "Reel" Good Fishing Games

I've been vacationing down in the Florida Keys for a couple of days, and it dawned on me that there has not been a decent fishing game (and I mean real saltwater, deepsea fishing) in ages. I haven't heard about any in production either although I would love to see what Microsoft's Natal technology could do with the idea. Anyways, just a short little rant. If anyone knows of a good fishing game though please comment.

Jumpgate Evolution...Revolution

As a long time player of Eve Online, I'm always on the lookout for other Space MMOs. Quite a long time ago, I stumbled across Jumpgate: Evolution, the sequel to the cult classic of the same name. It's initial similarities with Eve are what caught my eye, but its differences are what made me stay interested. Jumpgate will feature twitch based combat, something you would see in the traditional space fighter sims like X-wing. This means fighting will take more than just button pushing. Your actual skill and ability to pilot your craft are what can set you apart from everyone else in the universe. Other innovative features will include collision detection and multiperson ships. Starcraft II bails on LAN support

I donno bout you but I can remember great all nighters of LAN parties with friends yelling at each other in either Age of Empires, Halo pc, Starcraft and more recently Sins of a Solar Empire. From reading that sentence one can tell I have a love for RTS games the shinning genre that one can argue can only be perfected on a PC. One of my rts milestones is Starcraft. Ever since Starcraft 2 was announced I've been eagerly awaiting this sure to be fantastic title and to once again to take command of my Terran marines and make a few Zerg go pop. But my incredible zeal for Starcraft 2 has taken a rather large blow the removal of LAN functionality for multilayer. How could Blizzard even consider to remove this ancient tradition of our PC gaming past, that is the LAN party. LAN has always been the safe house when WEP keys fail, wireless connections go sour and when internet just over fails. I can't tell you how many times I was thankful that LAN would be the one to work and we could finally get to squashing Zerg. Now I am forced to have that ever constant fear of the a server failure or someone not being able to see someone else's game. Granted LAN is not immune of every problem but it has them significantly less and if thats not your experience than I'm truly sorry for you. So thank you Blizzard, thank you ever so much for smashing my dreams of a launch date LAN Party of Glorious Starcraft 2 in traditional LAN format and if I have anyone who can't find a game I will personally do some horrible thing that can't be mentioned even on the internet. But in all seriousness I do still really love Blizzard just so you know.

For all of you who may be reading this and want to do some online play of older games such as Age of Empires 1 and 2 or Star wars battle grounds that no longer have online functionality please try Hamachi. Hamachi is a program that sets up a virtual LAN so you and bunch of friends can make the LAN functionality of these games work with out actually being in the same house.

Halo 4: Natal Enabled?

Bungie president Harold Ryan certainly helped fuel speculation regarding the newly unveiled Halo: Reach project and its compatability with Project Natal - Microsoft's new motion technology. Microsoft has announced that it plans to release Natal next year which would give time for it to be integrated into the new Halo. Speaking to the Seattle Times, Ryan stated, "I absolutely think Reach could be enabled with it." For now, it remains an unconfirmed, albeit exciting rumor. I will be on the look out for more details.
